Private preview of Keefe Cravat’s new line, Inception

By Calli Green, fashion director

On Oct. 1, a private preview event celebrated the sixth collection of Keefe Cravat neckwear, Inception. During the event, Owner and Designer Jordan Williams announced that Keefe Kravat now has a new Creative Director, James St Laurent.

Large mirrors lined the softly lit, and open, yet quaint, event space. Keefe Cravat neckwear filled the room on mannequins, tabletops and in vintage crates.

During the preview, guests were invited to grab a drink from the bar, enjoy a cupcake from sponsor Cherish the Cakes, peruse the VintageKC Fashion Issue featuring Jordan, or be lucky enough to run into Mayor Sly James to strike up conversation and grab a quick “selfie.”

Guests purchased raffle tickets for the chance to win a round trip flight from Southwest Airlines. All proceeds went to Faith is Life, a non-profit organization that connects young adults to Christ through missions.

Throughout the summer of 2015, five aspiring Kansas City fashion designers helped create the Inception collection by participating in Keefe Cravat’s 12-week internship developed by Jordan.

Inception was introduced with a short video to illustrate the inspiration for the neckwear line. Models wore ties from the line in a short fashion show presented at the end of the event.

Jordan is known for using many different fabrics, and inventive ideas, such as paint splatters, when creating Keefe Cravat ties and Inception did not disappoint. The line encompassed textiles ranging from cotton to silk with textured fabrics such as burlap. Some of the pieces even shouted hometown pride, with local sports team prints.

The event proved that Keefe Cravat has a lot of support in the Kansas City fashion scene. We enjoyed every moment of the preview and are looking forward to seeing what Jordan and his new creative director have up their sleeves for the future of Keefe Cravat.
